It's All Good

Wanting someone, somewhere to refer to the band as "amazingly productive," Jymalot Music releases yet another CD in 2009. The summer release of It's All Good becomes the band's 16th LP. With eleven original songs from songwriter Jym, this CD allows in a little optimism and sunlight, more than usual, anyway.
The tone of the CD is set with the very first track, "Your Sweet, Sweet Smile," a peppy tune that points out that even as banks crash and socialism fixes everything, the singer can't be bothered by such trivia 'cause he's in luv.
"I tend to explore more the dark emotions, and, while there are some downright creepy moments on this CD, I spend more time smiling than frowning," said Jym. "In fact, I'm so happy right now in my own world I don't give a shit about the rest of it."
Ooooo, excuse us.
"Lay Out" must fill the creepy ticket because it is. But there is meaningful comment between the lines, Jym assures us. "It's Not Shocking Me" reflects a more happy-go-luckiness with its simple acoustics, snappy rhythm and clever lyrics. "I Don't Care (Abouchoo)" is Jym being mean again.
The CD, with no guest performers or cover tunes, is a lot of Jym. It is hardcore acoustic steel string, simple drum work and basic harmony. Along with the interesting guitar chord work with splashes of piano, keyboard and harmonica, Jym's versatile vocals are expressive and alive. But the real beauty lies in the tight song structure and poetic lyrics. And whether the subject matter is dark or gleeful, it's all good.
(Jym made us say all that.)
