Feels Like I'm Waiting...
He came riding atop his trusty steed, shouting by lantern light as the good folks of Boston stirred from their slumber, "The waiting is over! The waiting is over!" Okay, maybe that was another guy saying something else, but, "The waiting is over!" That's right, not waiting for the Thanksgiving release date, and instead wading right into the heat of summer, Jymalot Music announces the 2006 release of Feels Like I'm Waiting….
Containing eight original songs and two covers, the CD features musician/singer/songwriter Jym affirming his versatility as he moves from acoustic to electric guitar, keyboard to piano, drums to harmonica, back to guitar. There might even be some finger-snapping and a cowbell in there.
Early reviews include phrases like, "creative and clever, especially lyrically," and it sounds like Jymalot Music "is doing great." One listener found the CD finale "curious," unaware of the meaning of "Phukwytcling" when translated to English.
"Most of these songs are inspired by personal events in my world. What else would I give a shit about?" said Jym. The title track, asking "when?," manages to combine an acoustic, mellow feel with an edge, somehow impatient but hopeless, anxious but dead. "Teenagers Are Stupid" points out that teenagers are stupid, and "I Can't Breathe" paradoxically merges a catchy, upbeat acoustic tune with the depths of lyrical despair. "Phukwytcling" is electric insanity, reminiscent of John's primal scream.
Feels Like I'm Waiting… is album number 12 by Jymalot Music and the fifth release in the last three years, possibly prompting a local history professor to suggest that the years 2004 through 2006 may become known historically as The Jymalot Music Period.
